A Creationist’s Sunset

The sky peels back like paint,
revealing blood orange under blue.
Just like the Lutheran school hallways
my father scraped profanity off of.

God made the world in six days,
but I don’t think he ever kissed someone
like I kiss you. The sun dies.
Your arms feel like the seventh day.
