Fishing

The language
of fishing
is silence.
Reverie over
rippling water;
casting out a line
with hope
on the hook.
Their wealth
is in the wait.
Old men sitting
wordlessly
on overturned buckets.
Great herons
stand sentinel.


 

Annette L.
