Ashton Kamburoff

Russet CountyRusset County

Damn the senseless beauty of
rust. Blight red calligraphy
of time. Crows, in the ancient
light of dusk, command chain link

shrines. For months, a Ford has grown
against a fencerow. My palm,
open to the symphonic
nature of corrosion. Hold

out, this city a city
of archaic children. Your
teeth I find hidden like bars
in banks. Through beckoning wings

of speech, I slip in silence.
A nude portrait of tarnish.
